State Senator Ceci Maher named Vice Chair of Human Services Committee
Senate President Martin Looney recently appointed our state senator Ceci Maher to be vice chair of the Human Services Committee. She will also continue to lead the Committee on Children as its Senate chair.
The Human Services Committee is responsible for legislation relating to the Department of Social Services and the Department of Aging and Disability Services. Under that heading, it considers bills on Medicaid, nursing homes, in-home care situations and other issues relating to health care.
As for continuing her work on the Children’s Committee, she said: “I could not be more proud to return to the Committee on Children for another term. We have plenty of important focuses and pressing issues in our state, ranging from children’s mental health care and support to presenting children’s safety, reducing inequalities and ensuring every youth in Connecticut has the opportunity to succeed.”
Going into her second term, Maher represents New Canaan and surrounding cities and towns, such as Stamford, Darien, Ridgefield, Westport, Weston, Wilton and Redding.
