Sen. Maher announces grant funds for New Canaan
State Sen. Ceci Maher, deputy pro tempore of the Connecticut Senate, recently announced that New Canaan will be receiving $325,000 in grant funds to back the Lakeview Avenue Sidewalk project, designed to make conditions safer for pedestrians and bicyclists in that part of town.
Sen. Maher, running for re-election, serves a portion of New Canaan, along with Darien, Ridgefield, Weston, Wilton, Redding, Stamford and Westport.
In announcing the grant funds, Sen. Maher said: “It’s excellent news to hear that New Canaan will be closer to achieving its goal of interconnected neighborhoods. These investments make a difference in the quality of life for all in the community who use the sidewalks. This grant program represents a real opportunity for our towns and cities to see better safety and increased access for walkers and bikers. The more connected we can be, the better.”
She went on to thank Gov. Ned Lamont and the Department of Transportation for their support of New Canaan.
The Connecticut Education Association, representing teachers throughout the state, also recognized Sen. Maher with an A grade and an Honor Roll designation for her commitment to policies and budget funding that support the success of Connecticut’s students and teachers
