Lamont Announces Pilot Energy Conservation Program

Aiming to achieve a zero carbon electric supply by 2040, Gov. Ned Lamont recently announced the latest initiative toward that goal with the launch of a pilot program at UConn Health using an innovative technology developed by a Connecticut firm.

Shelton-based Budderfly will install, deploy and manage a proprietary Ultra High Performance heating, ventilation and air conditioning system to demonstrate its ability to decarbonize and deliver energy savings for state government agencies and organizations, according to an announcement from Lamont’s office.

“This UConn Health pilot program is the latest example of our continued commitment to reach zero emissions and bring a carbon-free electricity supply to Connecticut by 2040,” he said. “In addition to achieving our broader carbon reduction goals, the successful execution of this pilot will lead the way to the creation of new sustainable infrastructure and renewable energy jobs across the state, while deepening our commitment to addressing the climate crisis.”

Budderfly’s solution is an all-electric system that reduces energy costs by separating airflow management from the heating and cooling system. The pilot showcases the commercial viability and energy-conserving capabilities of Budderfly’s energy solutions, the governor’s office said. Read the Governor’s Office statement HERE.
