CT Campaign Season Heads into 2024

With the start of 2024, our General Assembly officials Sen. Ceci Maher, Sen. 26th District,  and Rep. Lucy Dathan, House 142nd District, have announced their reelection bids. They’ll be joined in the 2024 campaign, as of this time, by Trevor Crow and Nick Simmons, both seeking to serve the state Senate’s 36th District. Rep. Keith Denning is not seeking a second term. The candidates introduced their campaigns at the February DTC meeting.

At the DTC’s February meeting, Ceci spoke of the work she did on developing a concept bill setting an agenda for the legislature’s Children’s Committee, and serving a tri-chair for Children’s Behavioral Health. She also identified other priorities including environmental legislation and she is a co-sponsor of a bill to provide public schools with funding to make up for the shortfalls in federal lunch and breakfast subsidies.

In the 36th Senate district, Trevor has announced a second run for the Senate, after coming just short by a narrow margin of defeating Ryan Fazio. Also running for the seat is Nick Simmons, who has served as Gov. Lamont’s deputy chief of staff for three years. He has also served in the Biden Administration for two years. Speaking to the DTC, Simmons said he worked on education and workforce development policy in Lamont’s Administration, where he helped shape school reopening policy. He was also with the Biden Administration for two years as the COVID-19 pandemic waned. Simmons left the governor's office last month.
